Bowling Practice

We will go bowling on Saturday, March 29th. Right now the plan is to go to Bowlerama on Military Highway that evening. Wade will be getting out more details soon.

Who we are

The young adults group is made up of people in their 20's and 30's. We have regular gatherings once a month. We have an outreach opportunity every month. We also have social activities throughout the year. The Church has recently formed a new group specifically for people in their 20's. This group's information can be found on facebook.

Common Questions About the Young Adult Group

Random person: Are you a book group or a supper club? I hear you sometimes do not even read a book. Sometimes you only read a couple pages.

Young Adult expert: We have never defined ourselves as either a book club or supper club. We are Generation X. We refuse to be defined by society’s standards.

Random person: Does that mean you are neither? Do you eat dinner? Is there food involved?

Young Adult expert: We always have food. We always have a faith related topic to discuss. Sometimes these topics come from books, articles, chapters of books, books of the Bible, or movies. Some people do not like to read. But everyone likes to eat.

Random person: What exactly is a young adult?

Young Adult expert: Seriously, I thought we covered this months ago. The group is targeted at people in their 20’s and 30’s, but we do not card people at the door.

Random person: I heard it’s mostly couples…do you have to be in a couple?

Young Adult expert: Jesus was single, and we would definitely welcome him in. The group is open to all young adults, regardless of their marital status.

Random person: What do you do beside these supper/book/etc gatherings?

Young Adult expert: We have had wine and cheese/dessert parties. We also did a murder mystery dinner last year. We are hoping to plan more service related activities in the next year. We are open to new ideas.

Random person: So how did you get to be a young adult expert?

Young Adult expert: Actually I am not. A “young adult expert” is sort of an oxymoron. Once you get enough experience to be an expert, you are no longer a young adult. But I do know some things:
We meet once a month at different homes of young adults. We usually meet on a Saturday between 6 and 7pm. At the end of every meeting we set a time, place and topic for the next meeting. An e-mail reminder with directions is sent a week prior to the meeting. We also try to put it in the bulletin a couple weeks before. Call Samantha to be added to the e-mail list.
